Hey everyone! Hope that everyone had a good start to their school year or at the very least, a good start to the autumn season! I know here at MARS we did! Here’s a quick recap:
First General Body Meeting!
While we knew that our interest meetings were successful in terms of attendance, we didn’t realize how that would translate into our first general body meeting attendance! I’m so happy people are interested in a club I take pride in, and I hope they also take pride in it too as we progress through the school year!
Systems Requirements Review - A Success!
After new members picked which subteams to be a part of and slowly began to understand the new competition, we had our first Systems Requirements Review (SRR) in the middle of September! This review is one of the reviews NASA requires teams to do in order to be in the competition, and it helps us understand what things we need to fulfill in order for our team to be a success. For this review, we reviewed our budget and the schedule so far as created by our treasurer and our president respectively; we also reviewed requirements for our robot as created by our Systems Engineering subteam! Hopefully our Preliminary Design Review (PDR), which is predicted to take place on the week of October 15, goes just as smoothly as the SRR!
Getting to Know Our New Members
Outside of general body and subteam meetings, we reached out and hung out with new members; this included hosting study sessions and dining hall sessions! We are hoping to have a field day soon that will pit subteam members against each other in an intense game of soccer! Who will win? I don’t know, but members, keep an eye out for the date!
T-Shirt Design Contest
We also had a T-shirt design contest; one of our deepest regrets last year was not having our own T-shirts, so this year we are asking interested members to come up with designs! The winner will have their design on our club T-shirts this year!
