ABOUT

Why MARS?
Well, Why Not MARS?

The Mechatronics and Robotics Society (MARS) at UVa is a student-run, experimental engineering club that is dedicated to creating leaders in STEM. MARS aims to provide an opportunity to learn hands-on engineering skills from design & machining to circuitry & coding. We pursue this mission by constructing and operating a Mars rover to compete in the NASA Robotic Mining Competition (RMC). You can usually find members hard at work on the third and fourth floors of Lacy Hall.  MARS members also enjoy volunteering and promoting STEM in the Charlottesville community.

Although this organization includes University of Virginia students and may have University employees associated or engaged in its activities and affairs, the organization is not a part of or an agency of the University. It is a separate and independent organization that is responsible for its own activities and affairs. The University does not direct, supervise or control the organization and is not responsible for the organization’s contracts, acts, or omissions. Additionally, the Mechatronics and Robotics Society does not restrict its membership, programs, or activities on the basis of age, color, disability, gender identity, marital status, national or ethnic origin, political affiliation, race, religion, sex (including pregnancy), sexual orientation, veteran status, or family and genetic information.
